Without stating the obvious, or maybe I should...life is a one-time gig. We need to be conducting our lives with this in mind but sadly for many of us, we do not. That is the question I have been asking myself lately. "Why?" Where has the fear come from considering that I know damn well that fear stops us from doing many things we want to do.
What I have discovered is lately that although we are never free from our passing on, we can be free from worry about what others think or surmise about our behaviors. Death is the freedom and although we grieve, I find comfort that when someone's life on Earth ends, they are free from worry and free from judgment. They are free from gossip and disappointment and along with that...free from hurt.
We all attempt to lead a life of promise and positivity but the fact is life gives us trials and difficulties and we are left to figure out how to deal with those issues. Those things are what makes us humble. Those difficulties bring us back to reality and make us whole. I do not know one single human being I've met who has been free from heartache and challenges. The guarantee is that we will indeed experience them and that is when we discover who is by our side and who is not. We know many who undoubtedly lived their lives with purpose and with joy. They withstood the harshness and the joy and never once gave up. Noone could ever consider them weak. They wouldn't tolerate it.
Death is inevitable and I apologize for stating the obvious. When the inevitable happens, the loss is real but life's additional transactions are real too. We must understand that we can acknowledge the grief, we can also acknowledge the joy of having known those we have loved and respected. To me, that is the secret. We need to acknowledge the life they had and our life as it has evolved.
Our life on Earth is predicated on our energy to do good things. We must put our efforts to creating goodness as a priority. Those who have indeed achieved this have surely lived a full life...A life worth living. We should all be that fortunate.
